2023 Oscar Nominations.

The Oscar nominations are in and I am torn. The two films I thought were the best of the year got nominated. On top of that multiple actors from both films got nominated in the same categories. This is going to be a difficult one to predict. Everything everywhere all at Once and The Banshees of Inisherin are the two films I thought would get nominated. To be fair I still need to see some of the other nominated films. Top of my list is The Fabelmans. Below is the list of nominations for best picture.

Featurette Banshees of Inisherin

This is a great little film out now in theatres. It's about two friends living on an island off the coast of Ireland in the 1920's. One day one of the friends tells the other he no longer wants to be friends and to leave him alone. This sets off a series of events that are sad, funny, weird, and dark. I won't say anymore so not to spoil it. Go see it, it's really good.

        

DIFF 2022 Kicks Off Today!

 The Dallas International Film Festival begins today. The film festival prides itself on curating a balance of International Films and Texas films. There are different categories including, documentary, narrative and world cinema. You can buy tickets on their website and check out the schedule and trailers for the films being shown.

DIFF 2022 Full List Revealed.

 The full list of films has been released for the  2022 Dallas International Film Festival. A couple of stand out films for me are The Banshees of Inisherin from Ireland and La Uva. Attending the festival I like to focus on the world cinema and documentaries.  La Uva. is a film that follows the story of an immigrant laborer family that has risen to fulfill their dream of being wine makers. Lonestar Film Festival

The LSFF happening in Fort Worth on November 10-12. This year Taylor Sheridan will be a recipient of the Larry McMurtry Award. The Gala will be held at The Hotel Drover in Fort Worth on Friday November 11th.  Visit Lonestar Film Festival to buy tickets, see film lineup and to volunteer.
